Pusthaka Preethi Spardhe at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal

The College Library and Department of Humanities of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal organised  an unique event titled, “Pusthaka Preethi Spardhe” on  17.01.2018 at College Library. The undergraduate and post -graduate students of the College actively participated in this programme. The programme was well appreciated by all the participants. Investor Awareness Programme by SEBI at PG Centre, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal

An Investor Awareness Programme will be conducted at Audio Visual Hall of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, under the auspices of Post Graduate Department and Research in Commerce on 16th Jan 2018. Mr. Ramachandra Bhat, expert in the field will conduct the session. All are cordially invited. 

Department of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in commerce, Govinda Dasa college, Surathkal conducted a Guest Lecture on Investors’ Awareness about Mutual Fond on 16-01-2018. The programme began with Ms. Rashmi R giving a warm welcome to the guest speaker Mr. Ramachandra Bhat K.

Mr. Bhat started the session by showing the students a good motion picture which was very interesting and informative. He explained how systematically once can invest through SIP. He also briefed the importance of investment. He gave the complete details about various investment plans and their pros and cons. He also stressed why mutual funds are best investment tools and the benefits of mutual fund. He advised students to invest in equity based mutual funds.

The session was interactive, informative and interesting. This session removed the confusion and many doubts of students about investing in mutual funds. The talk was concluded with an interactive question and answer session. Ms. Akshatha Shetty proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, Director of PG Centre presented a memento to Mr. Bhat as a token of our love and affection.

Faculties of PG Department of  commerce Ms. Harsharani, Ms. Ashitha and Mr. Sanjan were present on this occasion. Ms. Harsharani coordinated the function at the Department level.

New Director to PG Centre, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal

Dr. Sureshramana Mayya has been appointed as Director of Post Graduate Department and Research in Commerce. He has taken over the charge on 3rd January 2018. Before joining the PG Centre, he worked as Head, Department of Commerce at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi.
Dr. Sureshramana Mayya hails from Heroor, Kasaragod District. He completed his BBM in 1980 from Poornaprajna College, Udupi with First Class. He completed his M. Com in Personal Management and Industrial Relations from Mangalore University, M.Phil. with distinction (1996), PhD (2003) from Mangalore University under the guidance of Dr. Yashavantha Dongre. He also obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (1998), Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, MBA in Marketing from IGNOU (2010)
Dr. Mayya joined Bhandarkars’ College, Kundapura during July 1982  and joined SDM College, Honavar on tenured basis during November 1982 and continued there till 1988, when he sought transfer to Vijaya College, Mulki  and continued in Vijaya College, Mulki in various academic and administrative positions of the College. Later during 1993, he was transferred  to MGM College, Udupi, where he served as Reader in Commerce, Associate Professor of Commerce, Director of B.Com Vocational Course, NSS Officer, Student Welfare Officer, NAAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Commerce and in various other capacities.
He has completed 35 years of experience in the teaching and research field. He has guided more than 25 candidates for their M.Phil Degree and five of his candidates have already obtained PhD. At present he has been guiding 6 PhD candidates. He has been the recognized PhD guide of Manipal University. He is also member of Doctoral Advisory Committee of Manipal University. He has more than 65 publications to his credit. He completed 5 major research projects financed by various research agencies like UGC, ICSSR, ICAI, DSIR, etc. Academically, he completed M.Com, M.Phil with distinction and PhD from Mangalore University, Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and MBA (Marketing) from IGNOU. He, in the capacity of Organizing Secretary conducted a couple of National and State Level Seminars sponsored by NAAC, UGC and Government of Karnataka. He presented his research papers in more than 60 national conferences and several international conferences held in India and in other countries like Bangkok, Melbourne, Japan, Philippines, Dubai, etc. He conducted a couple of workshop on Research Methodology, Leadership Development, cooperatives, etc. He associated himself in almost all the activities of college like NSS, NCC, Student Welfare Activity, NAAC Coordinator, BOE, BOS, Website of the College, Digital Library of the College, Total Quality Management Activity of Government of Karnataka, and believes in the pursuit of effective use of social media for the teaching learning enhancement. His interests lean towards workers’ cooperatives, integration of digital knowledge and class room communication, environmental auditing, rural women and technology and third sector.
